There are many cultural activities my family and I celebrate together. In Thailand, we have many festivals. A few days ago, we celebrated a festival called ‘Songkran’. Songkran is a Thai New Year festival that lasts from 13th April to 15 April every year.
Thai people visit temples with their family members and pour water on Buddha statues. During the three days, most people who live away from their homes travel back to their families so there is quite a lot of traffic. Since Songkran is a water festival, people splash water at each other.
During Songkran, my family and my relatives did a family gathering and we celebrated Songkran together. Our family spent time together and we did a ritual where young people used water with jasmine and rose petals on the palms of the elders and gave a flower garland to them. After that, we asked them for their blessing.
Now I want to hear from you guys. What do you and your family do during festivals? Share your experience with me in the comment section below!
